Better
Cotton is looking for a highly motivated and knowledgeable Regenerative
Agriculture Senior Coordinator. The ideal candidate will understand climate
change issues within the agricultural sector, particularly in terms of
(smallholder) cotton production, and will have expertise in implementing
strategies to mitigate and adapt to climate impacts while promoting
sustainability and resilience among smallholder farmers.
You will be
a member of the Impact team, assisting the organization in embedding climate
solutions and regenerative practices into its standards, producing expertise,
and expanding/managing our portfolio of initiatives for the adoption of
regenerative practices at the farmer level. You will collaborate closely with
the Senior Impact Manager, Director Fundraising, Programmes, Director Impact,
and country teams around the world, as well as our broad network of program
partners responsible for field-level delivery.
Your role
and responsibilities.
Regenerative Agriculture: Promote
the use of regenerative farming methods within the Better Cotton system,
collaborating with program partners and stakeholders to incorporate activities
that improve soil health, biodiversity, and carbon sequestration.
Capacity Building: Provide technical
assistance and capacity building to the program team, program partners, and
other relevant stakeholders regarding climate change adaptation and mitigation
methods, such as training on sustainable agriculture practices and carbon
removal techniques.
Stakeholder Engagement: Work with
key stakeholders such as internal teams, industry partners, NGOs, government
agencies, and farmers to promote collective action on climate change in the
cotton/agricultural sector.
Research and
Innovation: Stay current on the latest
research, innovations, and best practices in regenerative agriculture, climate
change mitigation, and adaptation in agriculture, fundraise for testing and
scaling within Better Cotton, and incorporate findings into Better Cotton's
strategies and long-term goals.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
Collaborate with the MEL team to create strong monitoring and evaluation
frameworks for tracking progress against regenerative and climate change goals
and targets, including carbon removal initiatives, and reporting on performance
to internal and external stakeholders.
We are seeking someone who has
The following abilities, knowledge, and experience:
Requirements:
Master's degree or equivalent experience in environmental
science, agronomy, climate change, or a related discipline.
A minimum of 5 years of experience working on climate change or sustainability
programs in the agricultural industry, preferably in cotton production. We
welcome experience with NGOs and/or multinational corporations.
Farmers should have a thorough awareness of regenerative agricultural
approaches, carbon removal practices, and/or climate change adaptation
measures.
Proven capacity to collaborate effectively with smallholder farmers and other
stakeholders in a cross-cultural setting.
Track record of project/program management skills, including the ability to
prioritize activities, fulfill deadlines, and handle many projects at once.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including the ability to
transform complex data into practical insights.
Desirable
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage
and influence a diverse set of stakeholders.
Inclusive by nature, and we ensure that our initiatives are socially inclusive
of farmers from many backgrounds.
Fluency in English is necessary; proficiency in other languages such as Hindi,
Urdu, Portuguese, or French would be beneficial.

The position is full-time (40 hours per week) and will be based in London,
Lahore, Delhi, or remotely across Europe. Better Cotton offers flexible working
hours, with core hours of 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Start Date: ASAP/September 2024
Contract type: full-time, open-ended
Salary: 47,200 GBP if hired in London, 2,466,550 INR in Delhi, and 5,491,950
PKR in Lahore, consistent with applicable experience and skills.
