SUMMARY: The MHPSS Roving Social Worker
assists the case management team by identifying individuals in need of MHPSS
services, providing accurate referrals to Mental Health supported Primary
Health Care Centers, integrating MHPSS services into selected Primary Health
Care Centers, and conducting awareness sessions and home visits for
beneficiaries.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
• Identify families or individuals in need of psychosocial help or counseling
through outreach activities and home visits to refugee and host community
households.
• Provide correct referrals as needed; for example, the roaming social worker
will refer clients to IMC-supported PHCCs as well as other local and
international NGOs. Furthermore, the roaming social worker will provide
information about the many programs and services offered by IMC and its
affiliates.
• Manage mental health referrals between IMC Community-based Mental Health Care
Centers and mhGAP-supported primary healthcare centers or IMC MHPSS/health
supported PHCCs. Encourage the integration of mental health into primary care
at PHCs.
• Hold mental health awareness sessions and offer reports on awareness raising
and other PSS services that include attendance, age, gender, nationality, and
the session's impact on participants.
• Provide psychoeducational sessions to MHPSS clients and their families.
• Conduct interviews with service users (refugees and host communities) and
their families to assess and reassess their situation, and provide advice and
referrals as needed.
• Conduct intake assessments, evaluations, treatment recommendations, reviews, and
other paperwork as needed.
• Conduct home visits to clients as needed.
• Collaborate closely with the IMC MHPSS manager to assist case management
teams in implementing MHPSS initiatives. Prioritize training and team meetings
in IMC as directed by your direct supervisor.
• Work to integrate into the local community and gain a thorough understanding
of the place, region, and population.
• Establish intimate contacts with all active groups in the area of operations
and maintain them consistently.
• Responsible for completing out the essential tools and providing regular
updates in close conjunction with the case management team.

Minimum Qualifications
• Typically, a bachelor's degree in social work or a comparable field. An
equivalent mix of applicable education and experience may be substituted where
appropriate.
• Typically, one year of relevant experience in social work. Previous NGO
experience is desirable.
• Experience working directly with community members throughout the program
cycle.
• Experience with or understanding of program accountability principles.
• Advanced social work or mental health experience and training is preferred.
• Non-discriminatory and willing to include men, women, girls, and boys from
various backgrounds, especially the most marginalized parts of the community.
• Excellent listening and facilitation abilities to manage and facilitate group
conversations with program participants, local officials, partners, and all
levels of staff. Ability to motivate individuals to create and sustain
relationships with staff and communities to enable their participation in
International Medical Corps' ways of functioning.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication abilities.
• Emotional maturity and agility when working in a fast-paced setting.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Fluent in the applicable local language. English language proficiency
required.
